MET Studio’s groundbreaking new exhibition BLINK: The End is in Sight is nearing completion.
The exhibition at Oxo Tower in collaboration with the charity Sightsavers, aims to raise awareness about the blinding eye condition trachoma and spearhead Sightsavers’s End is in Sight campaign to eliminate the disease globally. The experience digitally tracks visitors’ blinks within the space to gradually and very permanently destroy a series of contemporary photographs during the week-long exhibition.
Specially Selected pieces based around the brief of ‘a last thing you would want to see before you lost your sight’ from 5 prominent photographers will gradually degrade pixel by pixel, to be permanently deleted.
‘To raise awareness, we really wanted to put the condition within an everyday context. All too often these issues are considered out of sight, therefore out of mind but by using personal statements from contemporary photographers and innovative technology that physically connects visitors to the issue we can achieve a deeper empathy and put this condition in a whole new context.’
Peter Karn, Creative Director MET Studio
MET is working in close collaboration with Jason Bruges Studio, Barker Langham, Leach and Hillgate PR to create the exhibition which opens to the public on the 9th of October.
